The recent polls conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology show that the greatest trust among Ukrainians have the church, the volunteers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and lowest - the Government of Ukraine, the Russian media and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (less than 10% of Ukrainians trust these institutions). In general, during the year the level of trust in some institutions has changed significantly. You can observe a tendency to some reduction in the level of trust of Ukrainians to social institutions.
Church. Still holds the leader position of trust among Ukrainians. Compared to the 2015, the level of trust in Church has not changed.
Volunteers and public organizations. The balance of the trust-distrust in volunteers has decreased in comparison with 2015 (from 44.1% in 2015 to 33.9% in 2016). But more than half of Ukrainians still trust the volunteers, and the trust-distrust balance regarding to public organizations has not changed.
Ukrainian and Russian media. A quarter of Ukrainians still trusts our media, but the level of trust decreased significantly in comparison with the previous year. The positive balance of trust, they remain only in the western region, eastern region do not trust Ukrainian media at all. As before, the Russian mass media take an outsider position, the trust rating regarding them is low in all regions.
Power structures. The trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine rose significantly. More than half of Ukrainians trust this institution. They not only maintained a positive balance of trust, but even doubled it. The highest level of trust is in the western region, the smallest - in the east. The trust of Ukrainians to other security and law enforcement agencies are significantly lower and they maintain negative indicators of trust-distrust balance. It should be noted that we are seeing a significant improvement in the level of trust in the National Police in comparison with the previous year. East region more than others does not trust both national and patrol police, while the west - trusts police most.
Governmental institutions (the government and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine) cause less trust among the population and have a very low balance of trust-distrust. At the same time, compared with the previous year, the balance of trust in the government has increased slightly, and the balance of trust in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decreased.
The opposition has a better than the president, but the negative balance of the trust-distrust (13% Ukrainians trust it, and almost 60% do not trust, while 70% do not trust the president). The balance of the trust-distrust regarding the opposition has improved compared to the last year, while the balance of the trust-distrust to the president of Ukraine decreased. Opposition receives the biggest trust in the eastern and smallest in the western regions of Ukraine. President, on the contrary, is more trusted in the western regions and less in the east.
Kyiv International Institute of Sociology conducted its own public opinion survey "Omnibus" from December 2 to December 12, 2016. The survey was conducted in 110 settlements (PSU) in all regions of Ukraine, except for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on the stochastic selection, which is representative for the Ukrainian population aged 18 years. In total 2040 respondents were interviewed. In Luhansk and Donetsk regions the survey was conducted only in the territory, which is controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. Statistical sampling error (with probability 0.95 and design effect 1.5) does not exceed 3.3% in figures close to 50% 2.8% - in figures, close to 25%, 2.0% - in figures close to 10%, 1.4% - in figures close to 5%.
