Ukrainian team entered the final of 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, which is a great event in our football. 112.ua introduces the main coach of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Petrakov, under whose leadership and management Ukraine got to the decisive match.
Oleksandr Petrakov is 50 years old, had a game career in 1976-1984, having won some medals at the USSR championship. In 1993, he became a coach, starting to work in the clubs. In 2001, he started working in children's and youth football, where he found his calling and achieved the greatest success.
In 2014, his U-19 team took fifth place in Euro and in 2015 World Cup U20 it got to 1/8 finals. Euro-2018 Ukrainian U-19 team reached the semifinals. Now, his 20-year-old team has every chance to become the best in the world.
Oleksandr is described as a great motivator. His team always shows the maximum. He can easily give Lunin an opportunity to spend time with an adult team during an important tournament. Supriaha, for whom Dynamo paid a lot of money last year, vacated a place for the less famous Sikan. Nevertheless, Ukraine is in the final, and the team continues to feel like a team.
“I will not point out anyone. It’s wrong to do this during the championship. Everyone does the job very well. We have no stars, but we make a well-managed game,” Petrakov says about his team.
It is a general practice that youth teams are prepared for playing in an adult team with an emphasis on the style that the main team of the country has. In Petrakov's case, it works differently. His football is disciplined, calculated and sharp. The three goals of the defender Popov at the World Cup are a vivid example.
For young football players, it is important to learn not only to move properly along the field, open up and assist in time. At the beginning of a professional career, it is important to forget about personal issues and learn to work for the benefit of the team.
“Oleksandr Petrakov is a motivator. He motivates the team before the matches and during the training. He is very strict, but you want to play under his leadership. The guys are happy,” a football player of national team Valeriy Bondar says about Petrakov.
Ukraine gave football many great coaches. Not all of them work in top clubs, win big tournaments and make noise in Europe. To make an adult professional out of a young player - the task may be even more difficult. And we are grateful to Oleksandr Petrakov for doing it. And he is doing it great.
