A man shot dead two police officers in Dnipro city, South Eastern Ukraine.

The policemen stopped him because of traffic violations as he was running a red light. The driver resisted and opened fire form a hand gun. Artem Kutushev died on the spot, while his partner - a 36-year-old Olha Makarenko - received the fatal wound and died later during a surgery.

Oleksandr Pugachov, the main suspect in murder, denies his guilt. They day before he announced that Pugachev was not his actual last name. The man got a heavy gunshot wound during a firefight with police. He addressed the local Mechnikov hospital with a fake passport for the name Mykhailenko.

According to police, Oleksandr Pugachov is a 33-year-old fighter of "Tornado" special task force of the Ministry of Internal affairs, which is now disbanded. He has been wanted for especially grave crimes since last autumn.
