Except for Yanukovych’s 1,1 billion dollars arrested in Ukraine, 40 billion dollars were stolen during his regime. This was stated by the experts, according to the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, Ukrinform reports.

Petrenko noted the need for the law on special confiscation.

“Unfortunately, the Parliament did not adopt the law on special confiscation but the need for it is still there,” the Minister said.

The money was stolen using schemes and it’s now under the jurisdiction of other countries and this law would provide for international cooperation to return the money, according to Petrenko.

The Minister said he would insist on adopting the law. He believes that Ukraine’s MPs are “scared of the bill.”
