Kyiv office of Vkontakte social network was closed because of sanctions. This was reported by Vlad Legotkin, the press secretary of Ukrainian branch, according to Hromadske.

"All employees were offered job in Vkontakte or Mail.Ru Group holding. Of course, each of them will decide independently if there is such an possibility," Legotkin noted.

As 112.International reported earlier, Ukraine's President signed a decree that blocks Russian social networks "Odnoklassniki" and "VKontakte" in Ukraine, as well as "Yandex" search engine and Mail.Ru service on May 16. Sanctions against Russian companies took force in Ukraine. VKontakte, Yandex, Odnoklassniki and other, 468 legal entities overall, as well as over a thousand individuals are on the new sanction list.

Most Ukrainian users have already lost access to the respective websites.
