Faction independent Ukrainian MP Nadiia Savchenko wrote a letter to the newly elected French president Emmanuel Macron, where she urged him to maintain and strengthen sanctions against Russian Federation. The text of the letter was published of her Facebook page.

Savchenko called on Macron to maintain and strengthen sanctions against Russia, as the "authority of this country only understands force and resolve".

"France as a state that is ahead in protecting Western-European Values in the whole world and plays the crucial role in the Normandy format and cannot remain indifferent to the flagrant violation of the international law and the territories of other countries, that the Russian Federation has already been demonstrating for four years in Ukraine and Syria," she wrote.

According to the deputy, this is important, as the policy of appeasement of the aggressor together with the principle of non-interference may lead to the new catastrophe.

She also noted that the strengthening of international, technical and military support to Ukraine will help the EU countries to stop and deter intervention of Russia into the domestic and foreign policies of neighboring countries.

She also drew attention to the importance of drastic actions by French politicians to free Ukrainian hostages from Russian prisons.
