The sacred procession of Ukraine’s Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate worshippers ended near the monument of Prince Volodymyr the Great. The procession was to mark the Day of Baptization of Kyiv Rus in which about 2,000 people participated, reported 112 Ukraine TV channel.

The holy mass was conducted by Filaret, the Most Reverend Patriarch of Kyiv and the head of the Ukraine’s Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate. The column was headed by several hundred priests.

About 3,000 police maintained public order near the St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral in Kyiv, where the service took place on the occasion of the anniversary of Christianization of Kyiv Rus.

There were no metal detectors at the entrance to Saint Vladimir Hill, but security measures were strengthened. Also, the procession and the liturgy passed without incidents or conflicts.
