Prosecutor’s General Office of Ukraine approved and sent the indictment concerning Toretsk mayor Vladimir Sleptsov to the court, who is accused of collaboration with terrorists and encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of Prosecutor’s Office of Donetsk region.
During pre-trial investigation it was found that mayor was connected with the organization and conduct of the illegal referendum on Toretsk city territory on declaring independence of the state of the terrorist organization “Donetsk People’s Republic”.
"On April 15 2014, the official presided at the meeting of the city council and brought the question of the appointment of the illegal referendum in Toretsk to the agenda. Apart from the mayor and deputies, the representatives of the terrorist organization “DPR” also took part in the session, agitated for recognition of the so called republic and illegally removed and carried away the Ukrainian flag", - the Prosecutor’s Office informed.
Before, on August 17 Donetsk region prosecutor Yevgeny Bondarenko personally handed the mayor of Toretsk (formerly Dzerzhynsk ) notification about suspicion of a criminal offense under Part 1, Art. 258-3 ("participation in a terrorist group or a terrorist organization") and part 2 Art. 110 ("Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine") of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Now Vladimir Sleptsov in is custody.
