Prosecutor General’s Office sent indictment to the court against the head of the "Party of Regions" faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation Oleksandr Yefremov. This was announced by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko on Facebook.
"On January 4, 2017, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine for the investigation of crimes committed by criminal organizations, sent the indictment to the court in criminal proceedings against Yefremov on committing a series of crimes…" Lutsenko wrote.
As the Prosecutor General notes, Yefremov is accused of organizing the seizure of the building, which ensures the activity of bodies of the state power of Luhansk Regional State Administration (Part 3, Article 27, Article 341 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); of complicity in the seizure of the building, which ensures the activity of public authorities - the Office of Security Service of Ukraine in Luhansk region (Part 5 of Article 27, Article 341 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Yefremov is also accused of committing deliberate actions to change the borders of the territory and the state border of Ukraine, violating the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine, committed by a person who is a representative of the authorities, on preliminary arrangement with group of persons, which led to serious consequences (Part 3 of Art. 110 Criminal Code of Ukraine); organizational and other assistance of the establishment and activity of a terrorist organization "Luhansk People's Republic" (Part 1, Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); state treason (Art. 1, Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
A spokesman for Lutsenko Larysa Sargan added on her Facebook page: "It should be noted that the pre-trial investigation in this criminal proceeding was completed on December 9, 2016, since that time the defense, including the former chairman of the "Party of Regions" faction in the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Yefremov, were reviewing the pre-trial investigation materials. We keep working."
