President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko suggested US senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham to visit Donbas in order to witness the provocation of militants firsthand. This was stated by the press service of the Ukrainian president.
It is noted that Poroshenko offered senators to visit Donbas to obtain objective information about the subversive actions of the Russian side and its militants, who continue provocations and violate the ceasefire agreement.
The sides noted the importance of continued efforts to ensure the implementation of Russia's obligations under Minsk agreements and preservation policies of international sanctions against Russia until the full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.
Poroshenko noted the importance of adopting the law by US Congress "On the support of stability and democracy in Ukraine," which would be an important decision in the interests of solidarity and unity of our state.
The President also noted that Ukraine is not only fighting for independence: "We are fighting for freedom, for the values of democracy, protecting them in the center of Europe in the XXI century."
In addition, Petro Poroshenko has awarded Senator John McCain the Order of Liberty and the Order of Yaroslav the Wise to the Senator Lindsey Graham for a significant personal contribution to the strengthening of relations between Ukraine and the United States during a meeting with the US delegation.
Ukrainian President stressed the importance of the traditional bipartisan support for Ukraine in the US Congress and noted the participation of representatives of both parties in the delegation. This confirms that support will remain further in the fight against the Russian aggression, for the preservation of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"It is very important that during this fight our people, the parliament and our government were side by side with the American people. We feel this strong support and assistance. It is very important in these very difficult days for my 45 million country.." Poroshenko said.
The President also informed US senators about the progress of reforms in Ukraine and stressed the important role of the US in the process.
In turn, Senator John McCain reiterated his determination to help Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
