The act complements the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses with the new article, establishing liability for manufacture and propaganda of Saint George's ribbon

President Petro Poroshenko signed Ukrainian law "On amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses regarding prohibition of manufacture and propaganda of the ribbon of Saint George" #2031-VIII. The law was adopted by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on May 16, 2017. This was reported by the presidential press service.

It is noteworthy that Petro Poroshenko announced that he would sign law banning Saint George's ribbon as soon as it gets to him from Ukrainian parliament during the speech on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.

As it was earlier reported, Ukrainian parliament, voted for the bill prohibiting the public use, production and promotion of the St.George’s ribbon, 238 Ukrainian MPs supported the document.
