President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna came to Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv and commemorated the victims of Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. It was reported by the Presidential press-service.

"The presidential couple placed the composition of the ears and viburnum at the foot of the Memorial to Holodomor victims at Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv. President and his wire observed a minute of silence in the memory of Holodomor victims," the statement says.

At the same time, Poroshenko wrote on his page on Facebook: "We must carry out a sacred duty for the memory of millions of Ukrainians who were tortured by hunger - keep Ukraine united and independent."
