He reminded that he is the author of the bill and, as the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, took this initiative.
"There was a debate about whether this issue was ready for the perception of the session hall. After some factions asked to postpone the decision, I suggested that the chairs of the parliamentary factions and the Foreign Ministry continued to discuss and reflect on this issue, so that the position on it was developed. Because a negative vote on this issue would be a big blow to the image of Ukraine. I am pleased that the debate continues today. And now the Foreign Affairs Minister said that he allows for this possibility. I hope that we can agree on the introduction of visas with Russia next year. This question remains under my personal control. I will insist on it, so that it found support in the session hall," the speaker of parliament said.
It should be noted that the National Security and Defense Council Secretary (RNBO) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov also advocated the introduction of visa regime with Russia.
