The department of international legal cooperation of Prosecutor General’s Office in cooperation with United States Department of Justice returned over $500 thousand to Ukraine, which was withdrawn by the Ministry of Justice when Yanukovych was president. This was reported by Yuriy Lutsenko, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, on his Facebook page.

"This is money squandered by former leadership of Justice Ministry during Yanukovych presidency and withdrawn from Ukraine by making a fake service provision contract with one of the American companies," Lutsenko noted.

Prosecutor General’s Office continues the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceeding on the criminal characteristics provided for in part 1, article 366 and party 5, article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"I want to emphasize that the money, withdrawn from the Ukrainian budget, same as corrupt officials, who are hiding over the border, will be certainly brought back to Ukraine. The only difference is that money will face a brighter perspective — return to the budget, while the perpetrators of corruption will surely be prosecuted," Lutsenko said.
