NABU to check legal origin of bail posted for Nasirov’s release

Roman Nasirov was earlier released on bail of $3.7 million

National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) requested the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine to check the legal origin of funds posted as bail for suspended Head of State Fiscal Service Nasirov. This was reported by NABU’s press service on Facebook.

"National Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated the verification of legal source of funds posted as bail for the suspended head of State Fiscal Service. The according request was sent by bureau detectives to the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine," the message reads.

Beyond that, Nazar Kholodnytsky, the Chief of Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), announced that in case Roman Nasirov escapes, he is to be announced wanted internationally.

"If he escapes, the country will earn $3.7 million. The case is not going anywhere. It will be his decision. We are doing everything in accordance with Ukrainian Criminal Procedure Code. If Nasirov escapes, he will be announced wanter both withing the country and internationally. When the pre-trial investigation ends, the process of absentee investigation can be started," he said.

As it was reported, Nasirov's wife and father-in-law posted the bail for him, thus suspended head of State Fiscal Service was released from prison.
