Latvia urges Russia to free Savchenko without delay

Latvian MFA called trial on Savchenko “illegal”

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia urges Russia to free Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko without delay, it is said in the address of the Ministry.

The Ministry called the trial on Savchenko in Donetsk court in Rostov region of the Russian Federation illegal.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Russian Federation to immediately release Nadiya Savchenko, fulfilling international commitments, including a complex of measures to implement Minsk deals, which involve the release of illegally arrested political detainees”, - it is said in the Ministry’s address.

Rallies and demonstrations are organized in support of Nadiya Savchenko in a number of cities in Ukraine and Europe.

The pilot announced hunger strike on March 4.
