Ministry of Internal Affairs started investigation against the officials of "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian Railways). This was reported by the ministry’s press service.

Criminal proceeding was initiated today, May 26. Law enforcement officers are verifying information regarding overpricing of rolling stock, preliminarily by $7 million.

It is noted that the board of Ukrainian Railways planned to purchase 5 thousand 890 high sided wagons for about $183 million excluding VAT. Internal Ministry researched the market and claimed that Ukrzaliznytsia signed protocol costing approval overpricing each wagon by about $2.9 thousand.

"Thus the price of the whole line (2465 high sided wagons) was overpriced by $7 million," the message reads.
