Groysman to not run for president in 2019

Prime Minister said he wants to change the situation in the country on his current position

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said he would not run for president in 2019. He announced this during the press conference of the Cabinet of Ministers on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

“I have a sensational statement to make. In 2019, I will not participate in the presidential elections - like all citizens of Ukraine, I will come and vote for the presidential candidate. I have no other intentions. I said this earlier and today I want to emphasize that I have quite different intentions. I want, using the opportunities, the post of prime minister as an instrument to change the situation in the country. This is what I really want to do,” he said.

Next presidential elections in Ukraine should take place on March 31, 2019.

Earlier it was reported that Groysman met Prime Ministers of Latvia, Lithuania. The meetings will take place during the visit of Baltic countries governments’ leaders to Ukraine.
