This time defense of fugitive ex-president Victor Yanukovych refused to review case materials in the state treason case, as the pre-trial investigation was not completed yet. Lawyers are referring to the Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, stating that there is no legal basis to make the defense review materials of the case until the pre-trial investigation is over. On top of that, Ukrainian prosecutors claimed that Yanukovych defense has in fact already reviewed the first volume of the case, his lawyers called that prosecutors’ “wishful thinking”.
