EU: We expect new Prosecutor General to have experience in law

Government and President must ensure the new Prosecutor General to be independent and reform-oriented

The European Union expects the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine to have experience in law and jurisprudence, European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn stated during his visit to Kyiv, reports “Eurointegration”.

"Government and President must ensure the new Prosecutor General to be independent and reform-oriented, capable of profound reformation of his Office”, - Hahn said.

According to Hahn, the civil society needs a clear sign that the new government is committed to implementation of reforms and is ready to reject old practices.

We expect the new Prosecutor General to have experience in law and jurisprudence”, - the European Commissioner emphasized.
