Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv to consider application for the adoption of preventive measure against Strana.ua Chief Editor Ihor Guzhva at 1 p.m., according to Ukrainian News referring to Guzhva’s lawyer Andriy Smirnov.
"The court is at 1 p.m.," he noted, without further specifying any details.
At the same time, the speaker of Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office Nadiya Maksymets confirmed to UNIAN that the consideration of restrictive measure for Guzhva will take place in Shevchenkivsky District Court, however, the exact time of the hearing is not known yet, according to her.
"Shevchenkivsky District Court, after 12 noon," she noted.
As it was reported, Strana.ua internet agency was searched on the evening of June 22. As it was specified by deputy editor-in-chief, the entire business center building was cordoned off by Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU).
Ihor Guzhva, the editor-in-chief of Strana.ua, links searches in the editorial staff with critical publications related to the deputy of Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Linko (Radical Party). According to him, the criminal case against the agency was falsified. Guzhva was later detained and taken to the capital’s main police department, he is now in detention facility. Prosecution will be asking court to choose restrictive measure for the suspect in the form of arrest with bail right.
It is noteworthy that Linko confirmed the fact of extortion by Guzhva.
