Clashes between law enforcement officers and rally participants occurred in the center of the city on Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square on the Day of Dignity and Freedom. It was reported by the correspondent of "112 Ukraine" TV Channel from the scene.
"We saw that people started to run to the European Square. Right-wing radical forces began to urge people bring tires here, burn them. Law enforcers started detaining a few people trying to stop them. Now we see that people have walked to Khreshchatyk, returning from the European Square to the Independence Monument, some tried to bring tires and were detained by law enforcement officers. Within 10 minutes the number of law enforcement officers increased, there were about 500-600 of them. Speaking about detainees, it is difficult to say if there are some,” reporter says.
Later it was reported that flares were burnt near the Independence Monument, performance continues on an improvised stage. The situation is peaceful.
As it was reported earlier, Ukrainians mark the Day of Dignity and Freedom today.
