British court to consider Russia’s suit against Ukraine on Yanukovych debt

The High Court of England started consideration of the claim of the Russian Federation against Ukraine on $ 3 billion debt today, on January 17. This was stated in the agenda, published on the website of the court.

The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 London time (12:30 Moscow time) and will last all day.

Earlier it was reported that Russia filed lawsuit against Ukraine over $3 billion debt. Besides the debt, Russia insists on paying an additional interest on the bonds.

Ukraine received $3 billion from Russia a loan of when Viktor Yanukovych was the President in December 2013. Kyiv insisted on its recognition as a commercial debt and restructuring. But Russia  refused to restructure the debt and demanded to recognize it as the state debt
