Bill on defrauded bank depositors signed by Poroshenko

During the meeting with the representatives of defrauded bank depositors President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the bill regarding changes of compensation mechanisms for the individuals who suffered abuses in banking sphere and other financial services, approved by Verkhovna Rada on November 15. This was reported by the press-service of the President.

Poroshenko reminded that with the joint efforts of the Government, the Ministry of Finance, the Deposit Guarantee Fund, National Bank of Ukraine, representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine with the participation of defrauded bank depositors, the bill #5390 was designed, aimed at addressing the issue of defrauded citizens.

“Legislative mechanism was developed, which on one hand gives “green light” to the money compensation through the Deposit Guarantee Fund, on the other – includes “red light” for fraudsters. Moreover, the bill even increases the responsibility of not only the owners and management of the bank, which joined the criminal scheme, but also the financial institutes that participated in these schemes,” – president claimed.
