In the German city of Bremerhaven cargo vessel ‘Resolve’ is being unloaded. It has brought first batch of American tanks, trucks and other vehicles in the framework of strengthening the borders of Eastern Europe against a background of the Russian aggressive actions, according to the EPA.
According to the report, 2.5 thousand units have just arrived from the US. This is the biggest transfer of US weapons to Europe since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
It is noted that about 3.5 thousand soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, will join up with the equipment, which includes 87 tanks and 144 Bradley fighting vehicles, in the next two weeks.
The U.S. also plans to move in a combat aviation brigade with about 10 Chinook and 50 Black Hawk helicopters and 1,800 personnel from Fort Drum, New York, and a battalion with 24 Apache attack helicopters and 400 personnel from Fort Bliss, Texas. They'll be headquartered in Germany with some aircraft positioned in Latvia, Romania and Poland.
As it was reported earlier, American tankers from Colorado will arrive in Poland next week.
