The government of Ukraine welcomed the fact that the European Parliament approved the EU-Ukraine visa free regime. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs mentioned that in today’s commentary on the issue, published at the authority’s website.
‘We expect the Council of Europe to make their decision in the coming weeks, which would let Ukrainians enjoy the right of visa-free traveling to the EU already during this summer’s vacations. The wide support of this decision among all leading political forces in the European Parliament is the recognition of progress that our country showed in conducting large-scale reforms – such as fighting corruption, human rights protection, managing borders and migration flow,’ the statement reads.
Minister Pavlo Klimkin also commented on the results of today’s vote in the European Parliament via his Twitter.
Earlier today, the European Parliament voted for visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. Now, it’s up to the Council of Europe to approve the decision.
