On Monday, July 10, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed further steps to enhance political dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation in various spheres between Portugal and Ukraine with Augusto Santos Silva, Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, according to press service of Ukraine’s Presidential Administration.
Ukrainian President thanked Portugal for comprehensive support of sovereignty, territorial integrity and European aspirations of Ukraine. He emphasized the necessity to increase sanctions against Russia if they don’t conform to Minsk agreements.
The parties agreed on the expediency of intensification of bilateral trade-economic interaction, first of all in high-tech sector.
Augusto Santos Silva noted the positive role of the Ukrainian community in Portugal, which creates a favorable climate for the development of bilateral relations.
Petro Poroshenko gratefully accepted the invitation of President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to visit Portugal by the end of 2017.
As it was reported earlier Ukraine and Portugal will step up cooperation in defense sector. Armed Forces of Ukraine will get EUR 200,000 of material and technical aid from the Portuguese government.
