Poroshenko approves ratification of Europol agreement on cooperation

The agreement will help to expand co-operation, exchange information on criminal proceedings

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law ratifying the Agreement between the European Police and Ukraine on Strategic Co-operation, as the president’s press service reports.

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Europol decided on signing the Agreement between the European Police and Ukraine on Strategic Co-operation during Arsen Avakov’s visit to Hague on December 14, 2016.

According to the explanatory memorandum, the agreement will help to expand co-operation, exchange information on criminal proceedings, increase the number of joint investigation activities, identify whereabouts of criminals, participate in analyzing strategic information, and create international joint investigation groups.

As it was reported earlier, the Ukrainian Parliament ratified agreement on Europol cooperation, with 234 MPs voting in its favour.
