Emmanuel Macron came into office as the president of France. This was reported by AFP agency on Twitter.

"Macron officially inaugurated as French president," the message reads.

Macron himself wrote during the ceremony on Twitter:

"I guarantee that our country will be democratically renewed. The citizens will have a voice. They will be heard."

As it was reported, the presidential run-off took place in France on May 7. Macron won with 66.1% of votes. The current president François Hollande announced that the transfer of power to newly elected president Macron would occur on Sunday, May 14.
