Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel is of opinion that many European countries faced the populism virus in the run-up to the elections. Mr. Reichel told that in his interview to RBC Ukraine.
“I believe we can say that the whole world is infected with the virus of populism. This is a tendency to find the most simple answers to the most complicated questions. The propensity to act on the basis of emotions without considering the facts. I believe this is an experience that many countries face,” noted Reichel answering the question whether Europe has changed after the elections.
At that Reichel counted out the WIII warmongering in Europe. “I think that the world is not on the verge of the WWIII. I don’t like to put tag countries – “a strategic partner” or “the biggest threat”. But this is clear that Russia showed itself as a player, who violates the international law and has fundamentally destroyed the peaceful order in Europe,” he said.
