Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan did not rule out a possibility of referendum on Turkey joining EU to ask Turkish population whether they need EU. He stated this on the board of presidential plane to journalists accompanying him, TASS reports with reference to the HaberTurk channel.

"EU we simply forces, wants us out of the negotiation process. If they do not want us in the EU, I urge them to say so as hosts. Let them take the necessary decision. We will not tolerate such attitude forever. In future, Turkey will ask the opinion of their people if necessary, as the United Kingdom did that with their referendum,"- Erdogan said.

He is also remembers about a number of EU commitments on the migrant agreements, as well as the fact that Brussels "did not keep its word on the readmission agreement with Turkey." Ankara considers this agreement related to the process of visa liberalization with the EU, which is currently in a blind alley because of the principled positions of both sides.
