‘It is a sort of a custom, a tradition that our first medal is a hard-won and a long-awaited one. It matters little here whether it’s gold, silver, or bronze. It feels as if one’s first baby is born, I guess. The Ukrainian ambassador, the Embsassy’s secretary, the sport minister and the President of the National Olympic Committee came here to congratulate the athletes – Serhiy Kulish and Olga Kharlan. The whole team celebrated. So now, I guess, the entire squad finally regained their competitive spirit, and the guys have every confidence in themselves. I think it’s going to be much easier now,’ Olexandr Kaminsky, coach of Ukraine’s silver winner Serhiy Kulish, told 112 Ukraine TV channel.
