Ukraine’s tennis player Elina Svitolina defeated the world’s number one Angelique Kerber. Svitolina’s triumph in two sets out of three (6:4, 3:6, 6:3) occurred at the quarterfinal stage of Brisbane International tournament. Thus, the Ukrainian made it to the semifinals, where she’s going to face Czech athlete Karolína Plíšková.
It’s the second time when the Ukrainian faced and defeated Kerber; last October, the champion of the mixed Polish-German origin lost to Svitolina in Beijing.
Last year, Elina Svitolina outmatched Serena Williams, back when the American was the world’s number one in tennis.
Angelique Kerber won her first Grand Slam champion title in January 2016; back then, she defeated Serena Williams, and in summer 2016, she won US Open.
