Pele, the legendary football forward and the best footballer of the 20th century, received the official offer from the IOC President Thomas Bach and Brazil’s Olympic Committee – to light the Olympic torch at the opening ceremony of the Summer Games in Rio on August 5. According to Jornal Extra, Pele is not certain whether he can participate in the ceremony; he is bound by a contract under which he’s got to be elsewhere, not in Brasil.

The athlete will meet with the company’s representative to solve the problem, as he would ‘very much love to light the torch at a stadium in Rio’. The issue has to be settled tomorrow.
