Football: Kyiv to host UEFA Champions League final in May 2018

UEFA Champions League Final will be held in Kyiv in May 2018. The UEFA Executive Committee decided this with the members of the organization.

Officially UEFA will announce it later, but media of the whole world reported about this decision. It is interesting that Kyiv could be the last European city, which will host the final of the Champions League. UEFA ponders options for the finals of the tournament in different parts of the world.

"UEFA Champions League Final 2018 will take place in Ukraine! This is great news for all of us, and especially for Ukrainian fans, I am sure we will hold the finals on the highest level! "Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

The information was confirmed by the Head of the Football Federation of Ukraine Andriy Pavelko.

"Today we proved once again that Ukrainians deserve the best. We will do everything so that these finals become iconic. I congratulate Ukraine and Kyiv on this great victory. We deserve it like no one else does and we will once again show the world that Ukraine is a great state. Glory to Ukraine! " wrote Pavelko.

Note that officially UEFA has not yet confirmed this decision.

FFU President Andriy Pavelko commented on the decision to hold the final of the UEFA Champions League 2018 in Kyiv.

"Today was an incredible event that will forever be inscribed in the history of our country! We will be able to do what’s for most countries impossible! Kyiv will host the Champions League final in 2018, I am madly happy with this achievement, because it is the first time in our history! Despite the difficult conditions we have been able to make a crazy move forward. This way is very difficult, but the result is worth it. Definitely! Many thanks to the President Petro Poroshenko for maximum support in all problematic situations! Thanks to all who was involved in preparing the necessary documentation and accompanied the project from the very beginning! " wrote Pavelko.

Earlier it was reported that new UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin will come to Ukraine in frameworks of his first working visits in this office.
