Euro 2016: Game over for Ukraine

Having lost two of three matches scheduled, Yellow Blues are de facto eliminated from European championship

08:57, 17 June 2016

As Round 2 in Group C is over, Germany and Poland played a tie, preserving leadership with 4 points each. Northern Ireland outplayed Ukraine 0-2, leaving Mykhailo Fomenko’s team with no points after two rounds – and no chances to make it to the playoffs.

Thus, even if the British team loses its next match to Germany and Ukraine wins the next game with Poles, there is no way that Yellow Blues can stay at least on third place in the group.

On June 21, Ukraine is to face Poland, which now apparently will be their final match at Euro 2016 and will have no impact on the standings.
