The World Boxing Council has decided to disqualify the Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin, who was caught on using doping. It is reported by BoxingScene.

The term of disqualification is undefined. To terminate the ban to participate in fightings, Povetkin will have to constantly take doping tests at his own expense. If the results of these tests would be negative, the boxer will be restored in the World Boxing Council ratings. In addition, Povetkin is obliged to pay a fine of 250 thousand USD to WBC.

Andrei Ryabinsky, Alexander Povetkin's promoter commented on this: "We will perform in other versions and try to deal with WBC," - he said.

In May last year before his fight with WBC Title Deontay Wilder Povetkin failed the doping test on meldonium. After reviewing the case WBC issued a suspended sentence for the Russian boxer.
