Ukraine’s WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is going to face German Marko Huck in the quarterfinal of the World Boxing Super Series; their teams already set the date, September 9, but it’s the place that still needs to be defined.
According to Usyk’s promoter Oleksandr Krasyuk, the fight could take place either in Ukraine, Germany or the United Kingdom. ‘We consider Kyiv and the NSC Olimpiysky arena as one of the options; however, on this day, Dynamo Kyiv FC is going to play the game of the Ukrainian Professional Football League; the venue will be NSC Olimpiysky, which is their home stadium. So this would be an act of disrespect for the team at best. We’re going to settle this, perhaps even this week, maybe next week,’ he said.
The other quarterfinal bouts of the World Boxing Super Series are the following: Murat Gassiev (IBF champion) vs Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, Mike Perez vs Mairis Briedis (WBC champion), Dmitriy Kudryashov vs Yunier Dorticos (WBA regular champion).
