The Ukrainian government passed the decree, under which the Armed Forces receive the right to shoot down any plane or other type of aircraft, which illegally enters Ukraine’s airspace or is suspected of any sort of terrorist actions.

The document was approved late on Thursday.

‘’The air vessels that belong to armed units of foreign countries, which violate Ukraine’s state border and use weapons or deploy airborne troops on the country’s territory – including drones and other types of aircraft that may be used for terrorist acts, reconnaissance actions, setting connection among illegal armed units,’ the bill reads.

The ‘shoot to kill’ order will be given only after warning shots are made.

The explanatory note says that the decision was made so as to bring the legal frameworks in line with the modern challenges given the ongoing hybrid war against the Russian Federation.
