In Cuba's capital Havana, hundreds of thousands of people went to the streets to make their farewells to former President Fidel Castro. It was reported by Al Jazeera.

The Cubans were holding Castro’s portrait and Havana flags and shouted "Fidel!" and "Long live the revolution!”

Fidel’s brother Raul Castro, who is now the president of Cuba, was present at the farewell ceremony at the Revolution Square, as well as the spouse of the deceased leader Dalia Soto and his children.

The funeral procession began to bear urn of Fidel through the streets of Havana in the direction of Santiago de Cuba eastern province. The procession takes place along the route "Caravan of freedom", through which the rebel army led by Commander committed a winning parade in January 1959 after the overthrow of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

On December 3, a mass action is planned in the city of Santiago de Cuba in the area of Antonio Maceo square in memory of Comandante. Burial ceremony will be held on December 4 at 7 a.m. local time at the cemetery.
