The suspect in shooting at the Florida airport Esteban Santiago was undergoing treatment for mental health problems. This was reported to NBC News by sources in the US federal law enforcement agencies.

According to the journalists, he walked into the FBI's office in Anchorage in November, claiming his mind was being controlled by a U.S. intelligence agency and that the CIA was making him watch ISIS videos. According to the source, the man voluntarily went to a mental health facility for treatment.

The witness of the tragedy at the airport Mark Lee told MSNBC, that after the shooting Santiago threw the gun away and lay down on the ground. After about a minute the first law enforcement arrived at the scene.

Esteban Santiago grew up in Puerto Rico and joined the National Guard there. Then he was deployed to Iraq for 10 months.
