Russia refused to hand over Alexander Kolchenko to Ukraine

The so called reason for this is that Kolchenko have Russian citizenship

Russia has denied the transfer of Alexander Kol'chenko to Ukraine. The Ministry of Justice stated this in response to the Office in Ukraine, published by the Deputy Justice Minister Sergei Petukhov on Facebook.

According to the report, Alexander Kolchenko acquired Russian citizenship in March 2014. Given the lack in Russia and Ukraine international treaty governing the dual citizenship, as well as due to the fact that Kolchenko is a Russian citizen, the transfer of the convicted person in accordance with the Convention the transfer of persons from 1983 to Ukraine is not possible.

Recall, today it was reported that Russia refused to transfer Oleg Sentsov to Ukraine.

Alexander Kolchenko is a leftist activist of Crimea and Ukraine, anarchist, anti-fascist student. Arrested by Russian occupation government of Crimea in 2014 charging of anti-Russian activities. He was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in a strict regime colony in 2015.
