Petro Poroshenko handed diplomas to laureates of Shevchenko’s Prize in Kyiv on Thursday. In his speech, he mentioned Ukrainians who, like Shevchenko himself, oppose Russian aggression and especially those of them who paid with their own freedom for that.

As 112 reported, in May 2014, Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was detained in Crimea. In August 2015, he was accused of "terrorism" while protesting against Russian occupation in Crimea and sentenced by the Russian court to 20 years of imprisonment. Currently, he's on his way to Siberia where he will be kept in high-security penal colony.
