Pope Francis is visiting the Auschwitz Memorial on the 75th anniversary of the sacrifice of Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar, who volunteered to die instead of an unknown stranger in the German death camp of Auschwitz, located in German-occupied Poland during World War II. Pope is in Poland now during his four-day visit for Catholic youth celebration this week.
