The OSCE’s media ombudswoman Dunja Mijatovic commented on the recent incident involving Dutch reporter Michel Spekkers as he tried to carry human remains and wreckage from the MH17 crash site. Mijatovic tweeted that on January 10.

'Taking human remains from MH17 crash site by Spekkers is not journalism. However, confiscation of equipment may be disproportionate,' she wrote.

Earlier, Spekkers was detained in Schiphol airport; he carried several bags where the police found metal pieces and an item similar to human remains. The reporter initially refused to pass his photos and video footage materials to the police.

Spekkers said he was about to give the wreckage and the remains to the law enforcers, but they took the situation wrong and seized everything from him.
