NATO military equipment from Canada arrived in Latvia

The Canada-led combat multinational NATO battalion will be fully deployed in Latvia until June this year

On May 6, military equipment from the armed forces of Canada arrived at the port of Riga. As Delfi informs, this equipment is necessary for support of group which will arrive to Latvia in June in the framework of NATO forces expanded presence in the region.

"A part of the cargo, including construction materials, will be used to prepare living premises and places for maintenance of equipment. Canadian military personnel will use logistic and communications systems and light armored vehicles, performing their duties in the territory of Latvia, " said in the message.

Over the next few days, the Canadian armed forces equipment will be delivered to the Adazhi landfill. As it was reported, in order to strengthen the defense capability of Latvia, the Canadian-led multi-ethnic NATO combat group will be fully deployed in Latvia until June. The group will include about 1,000 servicemen.

We recall, in March, the first unit of the British Armed Forces, part of the NATO International Battalion, arrived in Estonia. German tanks for the NATO battalion were sent to Lithuania.
