The position of NTCU General Director from which Zurab Alasania resigns can be taken by the deputy from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko who is close to the Presidential Administration and who traditionally deals with information support of Petro Poroshenko, both confidential and public, people’s deputy Mustafa Nayyem reported on his Facebook page. He also added that Zurab Alasania “was forced to resign from the post of the head of Pershyi Natsionalnyi TV channel”.
“From sources I trust 100%, I found out the name of a person to take the post of the head of Pershyi Natsionalnyi TV channel. It’s one of the MPs from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko who is close to the Presidential Administration. He traditionally deals with information support of the country’s leader, both confidential and public. There is nothing wrong that there are people like that. The real disaster is that authorities don’t leave attempts to control public broadcasting even three years after Viktor Yanukovych’s presidency,” wrote Nayyem.
Alasania was forced to leave the post of the head of Pershyi Natsionalnyi TV channel for they did not provide the channel with necessary budget funding for Eurovision Song Contest under various pretexts according to the deputy. At the same time he was put in charge of the event. “Not wishing to break the law and take responsibility for deliberate song contest failure, Zurab wrote a letter of resignation”, said Nayyem.
Nayyem also published an appeal to the President, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada, signed by him and 40 other journalists. The appeal contained the demand to “stop sabotaging public broadcasting reform in Ukraine”. They also demand to provide full funding of public broadcasting of the channel in the extent guaranteed by the law in 2017 and further. “Eurovision should not be financed by cutting funds aimed for NTCU”.
As it was reported earlier, Alasania announced that he leaves post of General Director of NTCU due to problems with Eurovision 2017 budget. Alasania wrote a letter of resignation from his post at his own request.
