Genocide of 30s is a direct consequence of Ukraine's loss of statehood in the twenties. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the ceremony  of commemorating Holodomor victims, which was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine channel.

"The genocide of the thirties - it was a direct consequence of the loss of statehood in the twenties. The occupation of our Ukrainу by the Soviet Russia has become possible due to the separation and internal conflicts of political forces of the young Ukrainian state.

They entered and leaved coalitions; rocked the street; created intrigues and even rebellions against each other. They naively believed that this is the best form of democracy ", he said.

At the same time Poroshenko noted that independence does not protect against crop failures, but everyone knows that in the neighboring countries of the USSR Ukrainians were not killed due to the confiscation of food.
