There is a possibility of the further aggravation of the interethnic relations and the destabilizing of the situation in the city with the use of the “jewish map” in Lviv. The Lviv Jewish community published an open letter on their official Facebook page.

According to their message the absence of the preventive actions by Police and the Security Service of Ukraine in order to avoid provocations, not bringing the provocateurs to responsibility may lead to this growing animosity.

“The absence of the preventive actions by Police and the Security Service of Ukraine in order to avoid provocations, not bringing the provocateurs to responsibility that gives them free rein to continue committing illegal acts in future. We are convinced that such a reaction by the authorities and law enforcement bodies, the attitude of the authorities towards all the mentioned above, enforces the sense of impunity and lawlessness for those whose aim, as we believe, is further aggravation of the interethnic relations and the destabilizing of the situation in the city with the use of the “jewish map”,” reads the message.

The jewish community underlines that the actions of the anti-jew elements are anti-Ukrainian actions, attempts to create a negative image of Ukrainian-Jewish relations. We protest against such kind of actions.

We hope that the respective authorities take measures to stop the growing wave of xenophobia in favor of Lviv to get back the status of the tolerant city,” is said in the letter.
