Today in Kyiv citizens gathered to say goodbye to Leonid Provodenko - a fighter with the call sign "Kozak".

Public farewell began at 11:00 in center of Kyiv, and then a soldier was buried at Lukyanivske cemetery.

53-year-old fighter of 12th separate mechanized infantry battalion Leonid Provodenko died on December 29 during a fight with militants in Avdiivka area.

Militants abducted his body, jeered at him, they filmed it all on video and posted in social  networks.

"Deceased Leonid Provodenko was 53 years old. Before the war he lived in the village of Mykhailivka in Luhansk area, working as civilian inspector for the protection of nature. He was married and has two sons. When the occupation began, he brought the family to Kyiv, and on August 6, 2014 he came as volunteer for the front . He served in the 12th battalion, dreamed to liberate his village and return home, to his favorite work, " told soldiers of 12th separate mechanized infantry battalion about the dead soldier.

earlier it was reported that Russia-backed militants of the self-proclaimed LNR, Luhansk People’s Republic, arrest the local activists who call on their neighbours to oppose the occupant regime.
